Call for Applications: Cattolica Africa Scholarships 2013/2014


Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (“Cattolica”) in Italy, as part of its mission to foster relationships with developing countries, has developed a special program for students from the African continent. This program will enable students to study on a partial scholarship for degree programs taught in English at Cattolica’s campuses in Milan, Piacenza and Cremona.

Students either citizens or residents from all African countries may apply for these scholarships that are applicable only for the following degree programs, all taught in English:

The Cattolica Africa Program consists of two programs:

Cattolica Africa Scholars Program

This program consists of five MSc programs (Laurea Magistrale), which all take 2 years to complete. These programs are preparing for an academic and/or professional career. Graduates of these MSc programs are also eligible to enter PhD programs at Italian universities.

• MSc in Business Management (Milan Campus)

• MSc in Business Management (Piacenza Campus)

• MSc in Agriculture and Food Economics (Cremona Campus)

Cattolica Africa Leadership Program

This program consist of five specialized Master programs (Master Universitario), which all take 1 year to complete. These programs consist of one semester of coursework and one semester of internship and/or project activities.

These programs are designed for students who seek to enhance their professional career through a specialized area of study, taught by top-academics and professional leaders from the field.

Uganda Scholarship

Amount: Full tuition fee waiver, accommodation, living expenses and flights to and from London.

Eligibility: This is a ‘closed’ scholarship in conjunction with the Bright Futures Charity.

Criteria: Academic excellence, financial need and development potential.

Deadline: 31 May 2013

In partnership with the Bright Futures Charity, this scholarship is meant to benefit a student from Uganda, who has experienced great hardship in the troubled areas of Uganda, especially the northern area of the country.

Target Group

You are a national of Uganda.

You are an early or mid-career professional working in a public, private or civil society sector role in one of the listed priority fields of study. Those from the private sector or civil society should refer to the relevant Desired Applicant Profile for each of these sectors.

You wish to undertake a Masters degree in Australia in one of the listed priority fields of study. You cannot study a Masters in Business Administration.

You have a clear vision for how you will use the knowledge gained through the Masters degree to improve policy, practice or education in the proposed field of study

Eligibility

You must not be more than 40 years of age at the date of your application.

You must have at least three (3) years’ post-graduation work experience. This work experience must be in a role relevant to your proposed field of study and to your employment organisation type (e.g. public sector applicants should demonstrate public sector work experience, and so on). Preference will be given to candidates with greater periods of experience.

You possess, as a minimum, a Bachelors degree (or the equivalent) of at least 3 years in length with at least a 2:2 (2nd Class Lower Division). .

You must not already hold, or be studying for, a Masters degree

You must be willing to make a formal commitment to return to your current employment following completion of the award

You must meet the general minimum eligibility criteria for Australian Development Scholarships (attached)

Provision of course research support for short-listed candidates

Special needs assistance as deemed appropriate on a case-by-case basis

To submit an electronic application

    1. Register your personal details and click on “Request Application”
    2. You will receive an email asking you to confirm your details
    3. Once you have confirmed your details, the system will automatically send you an electronic application form via email
  2. The Application Form is an Acrobat document that you may save on your local computer or another device and complete offline.
  3. When you have completed your application form, email the form and all supporting documentation toapplications@adsafrica.com.au.  You may send as many emails as needed, provided you send the emails from the same email address.

In the interim, a copy of the “print version” of the form is available and will be sent to you upon request. Hard Copy applications should be couriered to the relevant AAA Office Courier Address as indicated in the application form, however applicants are encouraged to submit an electronic application.
